Mixed age classes - FAQ
At Copley Primary School, we have a PAN (Pupil Admission Number) of 45 children.
Class sizes are capped at 30, so this means that we have some mixed age classes in school.
We separate our classes purely based on age (with exceptions for SEND children). This has always been the case here
at Copley.
Our classes are all mixed ability and our teachers support and extend ALL children where necessary.
Teachers work together to plan Foundation subjects on a 2 year rolling programme e.g. Year 1, Year 1/2 and Year 2 will all study the same History topic for example.
There are no differences in the outcomes of the children in the mixed age classes compared to the full age classes.
Playtimes are the same for all children and they are able to mix and play with children from ALL classes.
Our classes are organised as follows;
